GradeUp was founded in 2011 at Wilfrid Laurier University by a math/business double degree student.
While serving as a residence Don, a student came to him, upset about getting a C in her first midterm. After weekly tutoring sessions, the student was thrilled to get an A in the course. As word spread, he realized that many students needed this one-on-one attention and were having difficulty finding it.
GradeUp was started to encourage his friends, who were also top students and great teachers, to set aside time to tutor. Within two years, GradeUp became the only faculty-endorsed provider of tutoring services to the WLU School of Business and Economics.
Today, we are still 100% student-owned and operated.
